Indian salwar kameez to Enrich Your Wardrobe

What is a salwar kameez...? We are Ahaarya, and we know very well what the Indian salwar kameez is. But for our American customers, we want you to know just what you can receive if you order some of our clothing choices online. Yes, the salwar kameez is a traditional Indian outfit, but it is also something that can be tailored and tweaked to fit your own personal style—whatever your nationality or ethnicity. We aren’t about excluding anyone just because the salwar kameez or the kurti is not necessarily their traditional clothing style. Ahaarya hopes to bridge gaps and familiarize different cultures with the detailing and beauty of Indian clothing with our online store.

The salwar kameez is something that is versatile and worn in many contexts. Essentially it is a top and a bottom, lightweight and flowing in design. It can be made from different materials, but mostly it is made from lighter materials such as cotton that will allow the fabric to be breathable. The top and bottom are longer, so that you are also protected from the hot Indian sun (as it originated; but of course you can protect yourself from the sun anywhere with one of these salwar kameez outfits). The salwar kameez is also something that can be dressed up or down very easily. Women will often add delicate, beautiful scarves to add splashes of color as well as further sun protection. This design has captured the essence of cooling systems, because it helps to whisk heat and sweat away from the body while never weighing heavily on the skin. It also looks intentionally fashionable, however, so it doesn’t seem that the only reason for wearing the salwar kameez is for heat reduction.
